The first question people often as me is, “What is drama therapy?” The second is, “So is it for kids?”
My response to that is, yes, drama therapy can be for kids! It also can be for adults or teens dealing with daily stresses in today’s fast paced and sometimes isolating world. Drama therapy can serve people of all ages dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, relationship ruptures, stage of life stresses, and social/behavioral challenges.
Drama therapy is about building connections and flexibility through creative expression, embodied play, and counseling techniques. As a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT), I offer in-person sessions to individuals, couples, and families at my office in Santa Monica, as well as sessions via online platforms like Zoom or Skype.
The work is fundamentally collaborative and relational. I firmly believe that healing can come from creating a space where clients can feel seen and heard, and where a reconstructive relationship can be formed based on mutuality, respect, creativity, and playful exploration. Sessions can be tailored to meet individual needs and comfort levels. The key is to help clients get in touch with their creativity and start feeling connected and empowered in their life.
I have office space in Santa Monica and will be opening up an additional East side Los Angeles location in the near future. In-home and in-school support can be arranged upon consultation.
