WHO WE ARE
We are Registered Drama Therapists and experiential facilitators. We work with organizations, schools, companies and groups to create a space for growth, innovation, healing and creative change.
DR. MIMI SAVAGE, PH.D, RDT-BCT
Mimi Savage is a board member of the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA), former SoCal NADTA Chapter president, and a registered drama therapist, board certified trainer in private practice where she is director of drama therapy training and supervision at SoCal Drama Therapy Center in Los Angeles. Ranging from teaching lower, middle, high school to college student populations and facilitating those who are from normative to acute developmentally delayed populations, Doctor Savage spent years working as a teaching theatre artist. After drama therapy training, she became a staff member of behavioral health units, where she facilitated groups and individuals of all ages as a drama therapist on in-patient psychiatric units and in several other milieus. A founding faculty member of UCLArts and Healing, Social Emotional Arts (SEA) program, she teaches professional development to clinicians, educators and to medical students on the uses of expressive therapies. A recipient of the Drama Therapy Fund professional research grant (2014) for her novel research with adopted youth from foster care and a grant for new pilots from Lesley University (2015) for her work with women on skid row, she received her doctorate in expressive therapies. Her alma maters include, Princeton University, Cal State University Los Angeles, and Lesley University as well as The Neighborhood Playhouse Conservatory NY. Dr. Savage publishes in peer-reviewed journals and in chapter books and lectures and presents on drama therapy at conferences across the country.
DANIELLE LEVANAS, MA, LCAT, RDT
Danielle Levanas is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and a Registered Drama Therapist. She received her master’s degree from NYU and has worked in a number of clinical settings, including forensic psychiatry, addiction treatment, and within educational systems. She holds an advanced certification from the International Trauma Studies Program and has studied with the DvT Institute East. Danielle was a member of the Big Apple Playback Theatre Company for 9 years, and she has presented and led workshops with Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA), the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA), the Expressive Therapies Summit Los Angeles, and the International Playback Theatre Network, among others. She currently runs a private practice in Los Angeles, runs groups at Reasons Eating Disorder Treatment Facilities, and teaches at the Drama Therapy Institute of Los Angeles and the SoCal Drama Therapy Centre.
